School Van Driver Attacked by Two in Wagholi
Wagholi, Pune: In a shocking turn of events on Monday morning, an attempted assault was made on a school van driver near BJS Vidyalaya on Wagholi Bakori Phata. The assailant, identified as Akash Torambhe, resident of Wagholi, along with a minor accomplice, attempted to attack the van driver with a sickle while the van was transporting eight students.
Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported among the students, although the van’s glass was shattered in the incident. One student sitting in the front sustained minor injuries due to the shattered glass. The driver promptly filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case against Torambhe and the minor youth involved.
The incident is believed to have stemmed from a previous court case involving the van owner, where the van driver had accompanied the owner to a hearing on February 6, 2024. Angered by this action, Torambhe, accompanied by a friend, targeted the van after it left the school premises. The attack resulted in the van’s front and driver’s side windows being shattered.
The students, understandably terrified by the ordeal, screamed, prompting the assailants to flee the scene. Concerned parents rushed to the school upon learning of the incident and took their children home. The incident has sparked widespread concern among parents regarding the safety of their children during school commutes.
Authorities have assured swift action in apprehending the culprits and ensuring the safety of students in the area. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of ensuring security measures are in place to protect students during transportation to and from school.
